{low down, throw down with lane dittoe}

when i first stumbled upon lane's site, i literally, gasped out load and said "oh.my.gosh.". it absolutely took my breath away. i have been back just about every day since. his photography is over the top inspiring, real, stunning and perfect in every way. it makes my heart swell with happiness!

if you already know who he is, you already know how amazing his work is. if you are not familiar with his work, please take a moment (after you read the interview, of course!) and check out his site. spend some time and look through the pages........it's amazingly amazing!!

First off...thank you so much for doing this interview! I'm always happy when we get a little male influence and point of view on our blog :) so thank you!!! you're welcome!

Tell us one sentence to describe your photography:
my photography is contemporary and has a fine art background to it and in the end i just want it to pretty.


What's one thing that everyone should know about you?:
i have a beautiful daughter named Taylor

Do you have any formal training or are you self taught?:
i went to a junior college called orange coast college in costa mesa, Ca. and took quite of few classes there. a very good program especially for someone with very little finances for schooling.


If they made a movie about your life what would it be titled and who would play you?
wow that would be a boring movie, it would have to be one of the slow independent films with very little going on. haha, and the actor would have to be a younger Kiefer Sutherland or micahel rosenbaum. lol



What does beautiful mean to you?

beautiful is something more you feel than describe, i guess. you just know when you see it.

One item in your life that you couldn't live without is:
my computer and the internet for sure!

What is your greatest post processing tip that you are will to share?:
curves in photoshop! i dont really use actions. but encourage anyone to master curves. the most powerful tool in photoshop.


If you could photography and celebrity (living or dead) who would it be and why?:
i would love to shoot Jimi Hendrix back in the day, or Bill Murray today.

What have you found to be the best resources and/or method of advertising?:
i love the wedding chicks blog for that.


What is something that will will always find in your refrigerator?
Tapatio hot sauce for sure

What equipment do you use and if you had only one lens to use...what would it be?:
i use all canon gear digital and film based,but the 70-200 2.8 IS is my favorite lens.


What has been your most embarrassing professional moment?
i was shooting into a crowd of about 3 or 4 thousand people at a concert one time when i was younger and had my lens cap on.



What was your first paid session like? Were you nervous? Did it turn out how you wanted?
i think some magazine bought one of my images for a issue back in the day and it was like 35 bucks! it was a actions sports magazine.



Is there a song that inspires you and lifts your spirits when you hear it?
we built this city by jefferson starship for sure. JK LOL I listen to different music depending on the mood.

What is at the top of your wish list right now?:
a house in palm springs and have you seen that new four door Porsche? Just joking(well kinda). I try just trying to focus in the present right now.



What is the first photographer that comes to your mind and why?
definitely jose villa, no one can touch his work.

Do you use actions or presets? If so, what are your favorites?:
just curves again. I'm shooting a lot of film now as well and loving it!



If we surprised you at your house today what would be the first thing we would notice?
a ton of art books on the floor in my living room.

What photography based organizations do you belong to?
I'm a total loner when it comes to those kind of things! but not against them at all.

What turns you on creatively spiritually or emotionally? seeing some great photography or art, or really great music
What turns you off creatively spiritually or emotionally? mean or negative people
What sound or noise do you love? the rain or ocean
What sound or noise do you hate?
styrofoam breaking or card board ripping drive me nuts!!What is your favorite thing to say when you get mad? i like to say are you serious? and other things you could not print.
What profession other than your own would you like to attempt? a painter
What profession would you not like to do? anything to do with sewage
If Heaven exists what would you like to hear God say when you arrive at the Pearly Gates?
i don't know, but i know one thing a would not want him or her to say " what are you doing here?"

  1. Amazing, Inspiring work. Love to hear about your first paid magazine photo. A magazine company bought one of my photos for 25 bucks... and I was pumped, I think the excitement about seeing it in print is a lot more rewarding than the money!
