{low down, throw down} with Simply Bloom!

I'm pretty sure we've all drooled over the images from Simply Bloom at one time or another. They are simply divine! Light filled, ethereal, warm and dreamy. We are so excited to be throwing down with Vania and Christine today, and even more excited for Christine who is labor and having a baby! Christine, we welcome you to the mommy club and wish you many happy years with your new addition. xo

Name: Vania & Christine
Business name: Simply Bloom Photography, LLC
Location: Huntsville, AL

Tell us one sentence to describe your photography:
We specialize in luxury wedding photography, we strive to capture modern love with a vintage and ethereal twist.

What's one thing that everyone should know about you?
We are originally from Italy (Vania) and Germany (Christine)

Can you tell us how Simply Bloom developed? Have you always worked together or was their a point where you each did your own thing?
For a very short second, we worked separately, but soon joined forces.
The business was initially meant to be a fun "weekend gig", but
unexpectedly we booked 31 weddings in our first year and a half, and never ever looked back.

If they made a movie about your life, what would it be titled and who would play you?
Haha what a fun question. I think for Christine and I, it would have to be more of a reality Tv show, as we are pretty quirky as is. You see we both have pretty noticeable accents, distinct mannerisms, and way too much personality. ;)

What change are you looking most forward to this year...both professionally and personally?
To control the cities to which we travel to.

When you take pictures just for you, what are they of?
Christine: puppies
Vania: trips

If you were given $500 today, what would be the first thing you would do?

We would probably have to put it towards a lens ;)

Where do you go to find inspiration?
Pinterest is a new incredible source we are currently loving!

What is your best post processing tip?
don't over do it!!!!

What would you tell someone who is just starting up a photography business?

What color paint is your bedroom? Why? What about your bathroom?
Vania: bedroom: mauve bathroom: canary
Christine: both neutrals

What advice would you give to someone who is learning how to utilize the best light?
Get obsessed with light and start noticing the way it plays on subjects in your everyday life.

What equipment do you use and if you had only one lens to use...what would it be?

We love the 50mm! The range is just how we see the world!

What session idea are you dying to do, but just don't know how to pull it off?
Haha we ALWAYS find a way to pull it off! And to see our next big idea, well you'll just have to wait and see ;D I'm such a tease!

Do you have a hidden talent? Or a stupid human trick?
Vania: I can make some horrible looking silly faces.
Christine: I can wiggle each of my toes individually, lol.

What was your first paid session like? Were you nervous? Did it turn out how you wanted?
It was a son-dad session and they were SO SWEET and adorable, it was easy and thankfully there were no nerves from either side.

What music do you love? Do you have a favorite song of all time?
Vania: first favorite song that comes to mind as a favorite, is "Let Go" by Frou Frou
Christine: I listen to a lot of Bon Iver, Cat Power, Lenka, Joshua Radin etc..

What is at the top of your wish list right now?
Shooting a wedding in Ireland or Greece!

Tell us the best advice that you have ever received (photography related or life in general):
photography- be consistent
life- dream big

If you had an entire Saturday to do whatever you wanted...what would you do?
Spend time with husband and family, make crafts, bake, drink coffee, spa day, and eat sushi :)

When you look back at your life, what are you most proud of?
I think for the both of us this business is a never-ending accomplishment. We are so humbly proud of all that has happened in the past three years and that our friendship is as strong as ever.

How do you get a connection between you and your client?
Because a high percentage of our clients are out of state, we do email a lot and ask for them to send us photos along the way of the wedding planning process.

Where do you see yourself in 5 years?
As content as we are now, with new project, big goals, and adventurous trips in our lives.

And lastly.....when we started the Maternal Lens, all of us filled out this questionnaire and shared our answers....now it's your turn. :)

What is your favorite word?

What is your least favorite word?
"Oahu" because my Italian accent just won't let me say that right!

What turns you on creatively, spiritually or emotionally?

What turns you off creatively, spiritually or emotionally?

What sound or noise do you love?

What sound or noise do you hate?
I know it's weird but...nails scratching cotton...ugghhh!

What is your favorite thing to say when you get mad?
oh I probably shouldn't say that here ;)

What profession other than your own would you like to attempt?
Vania: fashion design, Christine: Interior design

What profession would you not like to do?
the list is long, but worst would probably be something to do with bugs...
